On Friday 28 August 2026, the new sports centre, The Buzz, officially opened its doors in the University Campus Spui in The Hague. From 4.00 pm, invited guests, including students, staff and partners of Leiden University, gathered to celebrate this milestone together with the USC team.
Following a welcome address, Fitness Coordinator Ramon Wolf shared some background on the construction process. He explained how the team tackled the challenge of creating a modern sports facility within a limited space. This was followed by remarks from Jeroen 't Hart, Head of Student and Educational Affairs (SOZ), who spoke about the importance of having sports facilities close to places of study and work. The official opening then took place: with a powerful pull on the SkiErg machine, The Buzz was declared officially open.
