Login with SURFconext

Are you a student, employee, PhD candidate, or alumnus of Leiden University? We make it easy for you. You log in to the USC (website and app) using your SURFconext account. These are the same credentials you use for other university services. Convenient: just one password to remember.

Please note: Are you affiliated with LUMC, Hogeschool Leiden, or are you an external athlete? Nothing changes for you. You continue to log in the 'old' way with your email address and password.

How do I log in?

  • Go to the USC App or [mijn.uscleiden.nl].
  • Choose the option 'Log in with SURFconext'.
  • Use your ULCN credentials.

Help with logging in & issues

Having trouble? Don't panic. Here are the solutions for the most common situations.

I forgot my password
Your SURFconext password is managed by the university, not by the USC.

  • Do you remember your student number? Contact the ISSC Helpdesk for a reset.
  • Lost your student number too? Contact the [Frontoffice Student Affairs].

I cannot make reservations / don't see my subscription
Are you logged in but does your account seem empty? You are likely registered twice in our system by mistake.

The app doesn't open after logging in (Android/Firefox)
Do you use Firefox on your mobile? The redirect to the app can sometimes get stuck.

  • Solution: Temporarily set Chrome as your default browser on your phone or log in via the website.

I can't invite my sports buddy
Can't see your friend in the list when booking?

  • Solution: This is because old email addresses have been cleaned up. As soon as your buddy has logged in with SURFconext at least once, their u-mail address will be registered, and you can find each other again.

What if my situation changes?

Are you graduating, quitting your studies, or retiring? Your subscription continues, but your login method might change.

1. I am graduating (Congratulations!)

  • Subscription: Remains valid until the end date.
  • Account: As soon as you log in after graduating, your account is automatically converted to 'Alumnus'.
  • Renewal: You can renew at the discounted Alumni rate.
  • Login: You continue to log in via SURFconext.
    • No alumni credentials? Request these via [Frontoffice Student Affairs].

2. I am quitting my studies (without a degree)

  • Subscription: Remains valid until the end date.
  • Account: Your access via SURFconext is blocked as soon as you are deregistered.
  • Action: Email us immediately! We will switch your account to your private email address so you can log in and book again.
  • Renewal: You will pay the external rate in the future.

3. I am leaving employment / retiring

  • Subscription: Remains valid until the end date.
  • Account: Your access via SURFconext expires.
  • Action: Email us. We will link your account to your private email address.
  • Retirees: You will pay the external rate from now on and log in with a USC account (not SURFconext).

4. I am a PhD candidate

  • During PhD: You log in via SURFconext.
  • After PhD:
    • Are you also an Alumnus of Leiden? Then you continue to log in via SURFconext and pay the alumni rate.
    • Are you NOT an Alumnus (but e.g., from another uni)? Then your SURFconext access expires. Email us to switch your account to your private email. You will then pay the external rate.
