On 9 February, we will open the doors of our new University Sports Centre at the Leiden Bio Science Park. In this email, you will find practical information about using the new building, so that you are well prepared for your first workout at the new location.
Relocation
From 2 to 8 February 2026, both the old building and the new building (including the outdoor sports fields) will be closed. Sports activities will not be possible during this period. Plex-Fit, The Buzz, the ice rink and the swimming pools will remain open as usual.
Access to the new Sports Centre
Access via the app
You can enter the new Sports Centre using the USC app (Android and iOS). In the new building, we no longer use fingerprint scanning. Please make sure to bring your mobile phone with the app installed.
Lockers
Lockers are available in several locations throughout the new Sports Centre.
Use of the lockers is free of charge
You enter a code and a locker will be assigned to you
You open the locker manually and can safely store your belongings
Changing rooms
There are four large changing rooms. The screens at the entrance indicate whether a changing room is currently designated as a women’s or men’s changing room.
At the end of the main hall, a gender-neutral changing room is available. In addition, there are several accessible (MIVA) changing rooms and toilets.
Outdoor sports
In January, we started a large-scale redevelopment and renewal of our outdoor sports fields. More information about these works can be found here.
The fields remain accessible via a temporary access corridor, located directly in front of the sports café.
Accessibility
As work on the outdoor sports fields is still ongoing, access to the Sports Centre is temporarily arranged.
Coming by bike?
Please follow the green route. The bicycle parking area is located on the right-hand side of the building (as shown below). Cyclists should use this route only.
Coming on foot or by car?
Approach the building via Rosalind Franklinplein and follow the blue route.
Safety & emergency exits
The building has multiple emergency exits, all clearly marked and connected to the fire alarm system.
Please use these doors only in case of an emergency. Opening an emergency exit without an emergency will trigger the alarm and result in the evacuation of the entire Sports Centre.
