You may have noticed that the climate in part of the new sports centre isn’t always ideal during your workout. That’s understandably frustrating, and we’re working hard to improve the situation. Below you’ll find an update on what’s going on.
Since this week, one of the fans in the air‑handling system has broken down. As a result, the air in part of the University Sports Centre is currently not being properly refreshed. This can cause some rooms to feel warmer than usual, and floors may become slippery more quickly.
This affects the three studios, the corridor near these studios, and Sports Hall 2. The broken fan is being replaced, and we expect the situation to improve early next week.
Adjusted sports programme
Because of the higher temperatures, we’ve had to make several adjustments to the sports programme, such as switching rooms. Please make sure to check the most up‑to‑date schedule in the USC app or on our website before your training session.
New building: climate system still being fine‑tuned
Separate from the broken fan, the climate system in our new building is still in the phase of being fine‑tuned. This is a normal process after completion. During this period, temperatures may still fluctuate. The system simply needs time to stabilise, which requires a bit of patience.
Important: please keep doors and windows closed
It may be tempting to open a door or window when it feels warm, but this actually has the opposite effect. It disrupts the climate system and makes it take longer for the temperature to reach the correct level. We therefore kindly ask you to keep doors and windows closed.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. We’re doing everything we can to make sure you can enjoy optimal sport comfort again as soon as possible.
