Dancing as one

'Kizomba' is the Angolan word for party, and you can feel that in every beat. This dance style is a unique mix of Zouk, Argentine Tango, and Salsa, all topped with warm African rhythms. The result? A sensual, playful flow that is impossible to stand still to.

At the USC, you learn how to move as a unit. Kizomba is intimate, social, and revolves entirely around the connection with your partner. On the romantic, rhythmic music, you forget the world around you and focus purely on the dance.

What do you need?

Discover Kizomba

For the Connection Seeker

Kizomba is an intimate partner dance. You really learn to lead or follow and merge in the movement. Perfect if you love dancing with feeling.

For the Music Lover

The music is a delightful mix of Zouk (French Antilles) and Semba (Angola). If you love warm, tropical rhythms with a modern twist, this is your class.

For Everyone

You don't need a fixed partner to join. In the classes, we often switch, so you learn to dance with different people and make new contacts quickly.

All about Kizomba

Do I need a fixed partner?

No, that is not mandatory. Participation is based on open walk-in and we often rotate during the class. It is actually educational (and fun!) to dance with different partners.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Wear shoes that allow you to turn easily on the floor. Shoes with a very sticky rubber sole can be difficult for your knees when turning.

What is the difference with Bachata?

Although both are sensual, Kizomba comes from Angola and Bachata from the Dominican Republic. Kizomba is often a bit calmer, tighter, and focuses more on a 'tango-like' connection and walking movements.
