Sand, sun, and the ultimate workout

Beach volleyball is the summer sport par excellence. With your feet in the sand and the sun on your face, you work on rock-solid fitness. Because you have to defend the entire court with just two (or four) people, you are constantly moving. Diving, jumping, sprinting through the soft sand: it's a total-body workout that trains your endurance and technique significantly.

At the USC, we have two beach volleyball courts. Gather your friends for a game of 2-on-2 or request a clinic to learn the tricks of the trade. The atmosphere is always relaxed, but don't be mistaken: in the sand, your muscles work twice as hard!

For the Group of Friends

Do you have a valid subscription? Then simply reserve a court via the website. It is the perfect activity for a sunny afternoon with friends.

For the Technique Lover

Beach volleyball requires all-around skills. Because you don't have a fixed position, you must be able to pass, set, AND smash. Moreover, stricter rules apply to ball contact than indoors. A great challenge to refine your technique.

For the Fitness Beast

Moving in the sand is tough. Very tough. If you are looking for an intensive cardio workout where you can also be outdoors, this is your sport.

All about Beach volleybal

What is the difference with indoor volleyball?

The biggest difference is the surface (sand) and the number of players (officially 2 against 2). The court is slightly smaller (8x8m) and there are no fixed positions. Also, you are not allowed to play the ball 'softly' (tipping); hard contact is mandatory for the first and third ball.

Can I take a clinic or training?

Yes, a training or clinic can be provided on request. This is ideal if you want to learn the technique with a group or are looking for a sporty outing. Inquire at the USC about the possibilities.

Do I need to bring my own ball?

It is useful if you have your own beach volleyball, but you can often borrow one at the USC front desk.
