Grappling, often called 'No-Gi BJJ' or 'Submission Wrestling', is the art of ground fighting without a suit (gi). Whereas in Judo or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) you can grab your opponent's clothing, here it is forbidden. This makes the game faster, slipperier, and more explosive.
At the USC, you learn the ultimate mix of wrestling and submissions. You work on takedowns to bring the fight to the ground, and on locks and chokes to make your opponent tap out. It is technical, physically demanding, and essential for anyone wanting to delve into MMA.
Every modern MMA fighter (think Khabib or GSP) masters grappling. Do you want to become a more complete fighter? Then this class should not be missing from your schedule.
Do you have a background in wrestling? In grappling, you can use your takedowns and control, but you add submissions (locks and chokes).
Do you normally train in a Gi? No-Gi grappling forces you to use different grips and techniques because you have nothing to hold onto. This improves your overall game.
