All about Jiu Jitsu

What is the difference with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)?

Traditional/modern Jiu Jitsu (as we teach it) is a broader self-defense art that includes standing techniques (punches, kicks), throws, and ground fighting. BJJ focuses specifically and deeply on ground fighting and submissions.

Do I need a suit immediately?

No, sturdy sportswear (long trousers and t-shirt) is sufficient for your first lessons. If you decide to continue, a Gi (suit) is necessary to learn all techniques properly (because you need to be able to grab each other).

Is it safe?

Absolutely. Safety comes first. You first learn how to fall safely and how to execute techniques in a controlled manner. Respect for your training partner is the basis of every lesson.
