A sport for beasts, played by gentlemen and ladies!

Rugby is the ultimate contact sport where strength, speed, and respect come together. Since 1960, the Leidsch Studenten Rugby Gezelschap (LSRG) has been a household name. Here you not only learn to tackle and scrum, but you become part of a close-knit family.

At the USC, you train under the guidance of top coaches who have played at a high level themselves. Whether you are a broad forward or a fast back: on the field, you go through fire for each other. And after the match? Then we dive into the legendary 'third half'.

Discover Rugby

For Men

With two teams, we compete at different levels. We’re on our way back to the top of Dutch hockey. Are you ready to help drive that rise?

For Women

"Real men play rugby"? Nonsense! Women's rugby is growing explosively worldwide. The LSRG Women's team challenges you: do you have the character and mentality for this sport? Come train with us and experience it for yourself.

For the Beginner

Never held an oval ball before? No problem. Many of our members only start during their student days. You learn the rules and techniques quickly enough during the training sessions.

All about Rugby

Is it dangerous?

Rugby is a physical contact sport, but due to strict rules and a focus on technique, it is safer than you think. We first teach you how to fall and tackle safely before you play a match. A mouthguard is mandatory though.

When are the training sessions?

We usually train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. At the moment, training sessions and matches take place at LVV Roodenburg (Pieter Bothstraat 27, 2315 AP Leiden).

How much does it cost?

You need a valid USC sports subscription AND you pay a contribution fee to the association LSRG. Check their website for current rates.
