Top sport with a wet ball

Water polo might be the toughest team sport in the world. You have to swim like a dolphin, throw like a handball player, and duel like a rugby player – all without touching the bottom. It is the ultimate test of your fitness, strength, and tactical insight.

At student association Aquamania, you train together with men and women of all levels. Whether you are an experienced player or have never worn a cap before: here you learn the tricks of the trade. We attend all tournaments, play practice matches, and ensure a great atmosphere in and out of the pool.

What do you need?

Discover Waterpolo

For the Team Player

Water polo is something you do together. You must be able to trust each other blindly, both in defense and attack. At Aquamania, we build close-knit men's and women's teams.

For the Fitness Beast

Make no mistake: an hour of water polo is intense. You are constantly moving. If you are looking for a full-body workout where you don't see a drop of sweat (because: water), then this is your sport.

For Every Level

At Aquamania, polo players from diverse backgrounds meet. Whether you have played at a high level or are just starting: we train together and separately on technique and strength.

All about Waterpolo

Where are the training sessions?

We train on Monday evenings in the De Zijl pool and on Wednesday evenings in swimming pool De Vliet. Check the schedule for the exact times.

Do I need to be a good swimmer?

Basic swimming skills are necessary because you are not allowed to stand in the water. But we will teach you the specific water polo techniques (such as the 'eggbeater' to get high out of the water) during training.

How much does it cost?

You need a valid USC sports subscription. In addition, you pay a contribution fee to the association Aquamania for pool rental and activities, among other things.
