Organic flow meets groovy funk

Modern Jazz is the dance style where contrasts meet. On one hand, you have the organic, fluid movements of modern dance. On the other, the tight, swinging 'groove' of jazz. The result? An expressive class where you work on technique, but above all learn to dance with feeling.

At the USC, we focus on body control. You build strength, improve your flexibility, and discover new ways to move. Whether you are rolling on the floor or jumping through the air: you use your entire body.

What do you need?

Discover Modern Jazz

For the Beginner

Experience is not required! Have you always wanted to dance, but don't know where to start? Modern Jazz is an accessible style to build technique and rhythm.

For the Technique Lover

We pay a lot of attention to correct execution. You learn how to draw strength from the floor, how to turn, and how to make your body create lines.

For the Expressive Athlete

Dance is emotion. In this class, you can express your feelings in the music. From quiet ballads to uptempo funk: every class is different.

All about Modern Jazz

Do I need to buy dance shoes?

No, that is not necessary. We dance on socks or bare feet. This gives you the best contact with the floor and allows you to articulate your feet well.

Can I just join in anytime?

Yes, the classes are based on open walk-in. You can join every week. The teacher ensures that everyone can follow the exercises.
